Taupi is a personal finance app made in Latvia — a quiet everyday companion that helps you understand where your money goes and spend more deliberately.
Why Taupi exists
I wanted a mortgage to build a house, but first I had to clear a car loan. What I needed was one answer, and quickly: how much can I spend today without breaking the plan?
I couldn’t find an app that would tell me. Most budgeting tools are built for other markets — they can’t read Latvian store receipts, they drown you in charts, and they demand more work than they give back. So I started building my own.
It began as a single calculation for myself. Bit by bit it grew into whatever turned out to be genuinely useful: AI receipt scanning, insights, and statistics that let you see your own shopping habits and then fix them. I also wanted Taupi to teach, so it has tips and short quizzes — information you can pick up quickly and learn by doing.
When I posted about Taupi on Threads, I was hoping to recruit a handful of testers. The response was considerably larger: around 400 people joined the waitlist within a month. For an app still in development that is a lot — and reason enough to finish it as well as I can.
What Taupi does
- Daily budget — every morning Taupi recalculates what you can spend today, counting in your salary, fixed costs and goals.
- AI receipt scanning — photograph a receipt and every item lands in the right category automatically. Built specifically for Latvian store receipts.
- Insights — a financial health score and personalized observations about your habits.
- Goals and net worth — savings goals with real progress, and all your money in one view.

Get in touch
Taupi is built by a small team, and that means one simple thing: I answer every email myself, and every suggestion is read by the person writing the app.
